Junxion Strategy - 2023 impact report review
Junxion is a consultancy I know - and I love their integrity and focus on doing good in the world. So I very much enjoyed reading their impact report, learning more about them and their last year.
👍🏻 Three things I like:
1. REPORT AGAINST COMMITMENTS MADE LAST YEAR
One of the most important parts of an impact report is going back to the objectives you set last year and reporting on the extent to which you’ve met them. And being transparent where you haven’t.
It surprises me how few businesses do this in their impact report! And so I loved the simple table at the end of Junxion’s report.
2. CLEAR TANGIBLE VISION
They describe in detail the future economic system and society they imagine and want to play a part in creating. It’s clear that they’ve spent time creating this vision and articulating it.
Having a clear, detailed and specific vision that everyone in the team can imagine makes it easier for them to make decisions and understand the role they can play. And so much more likely you’ll be able to deliver the vision.
3. DISCLOSURE ABOUT CLIENTS
They recognise that “Like all service-based companies, Junxion’s greatest opportunities for influence and impact are in our work with our clients.” 100% - I couldn’t agree more!
They are then transparent about the business sectors and types of businesses they’ve worked with. And they report on revenue from “controversial industries”. I love this!
❓ Three questions it raises:
1. WHAT’S THEIR THEORY OF CHANGE?
For a business that is so focused on impact and that helps clients develop a theory of change, I was disappointed not to see Junxion’s theory of change. I’d have loved the report to be reporting against that structure.
2. WEEK TOGETHER – WHAT WAS THE DECISION-MAKING PROCESS?
Choosing to bring the whole business to one location to be together co-creating the 2024-25 strategy is a big decision from several perspectives – environmental impact, time / opportunity cost, financial.
Knowing the Junxion team, I feel confident this was a fully justified trip. What was their decision making process? How might other businesses learn from that?
3. CAN THEY SHARE THEIR MEETING TEMPLATES?
They say “we added JEDI considerations to our standard meeting templates.”
I love it when businesses operationalise policies / strategies / commitments like this. Could they share some examples to “make it real” for other businesses and help them do similar?
