Forward Institute - 2021 impact report review

The impact report I'm reviewing this week is from Forward Institute.

đŸ‘đŸ» 3 things I like...

1. CLEAR MISSION AND STRATEGY

They have a clear mission (“embedding responsible leadership at the heart of influential organisations”) and a strategy for delivering that – three ways they work with organisations. It’s clear what they do and (by inference) what they don’t do.

2. OPPORTUNITY FOR SCALING IMPACT

They have an exciting opportunity to have a huge impact through what they do – one which is far bigger than their size would suggest. Because they’re developing leaders within much larger organisations to be ‘more responsible leaders’ then the impact is on these organisations
and potentially then more broadly on their supply chain, customers, employees etc.

They’re also sharing their learnings on responsible leadership in practice. This gives them the opportunity to scale their impact even further by influencing more broadly than the people and organisations they work directly with.

3. ACTING ON DATA

When they completed their B Impact Assessment, they saw that they had work to do in terms of understanding and reducing their environmental impact
they recognised this and acted on it.

They’ve made changes to date and share plans for additional things they’ll do next year in terms of reducing environmental impact.

❓3 questions it raises

1. WILL THEY INCREASE THE NUMBER OF ORGANISATIONS THEY PARTNER WITH?

They say they partner with 30 organisations. Are they planning on growing beyond these 30?

2. HOW WILL THEY DEEPEN IMPACT THROUGH PARTNERS?

In their plans for the following year they talk about “working more deeply with partner organisations to deepen our impact”.  I’m curious about how they’re doing this.

How are they choosing what to do (and what not to do) so they maximise the impact they can have?

3. HOW ARE THEY CO-CREATING EMPLOYMENT PRACTICES?

They have a relatively small team (17 employees). How are they involving them in exploring and co-creating ways to improve their employment practices?
