Rubies in the Rubble - 2021 impact report review
This week’s impact report is from Rubies In The Rubble, who I've admired for some time. I love what they're all about! And there's lots to love about how they report on that too.
👍🏻 3 things I like...
1. CRYSTAL CLEAR MISSION
Their mission is easy to understand and there’s a clear single metric for measuring progress.
2. DOING GOOD AND BEING COMMERCIALLY SUCCESSFUL REINFORCE EACH OTHER
The more they sell, the more food is diverted from waste. There’s a clear link from that to CO2 emissions and environmental impact.
3. THEIR EXPLANATION OF CLIMATE CHANGE
On page 7 of the report, they explain climate change. They do it in plain English in a way that’s easy to understand and doesn’t shrink the enormity of the challenge.
I love the way they’re helping education stakeholders. And that there’s such clear line of sight from what they’re doing as a business to this massive global problem.
❓3 questions it raises
1. DOES THEIR BUSINESS MODEL MAKE THEM MORE RESILIENT?
Lots of food and drink businesses are experiencing eye-watering levels of inflation at the moment. Does Rubies’ use of otherwise rejected food make their business more resilient to raw ingredients price increases?
2. WHAT ARE THEIR PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR?
What's next? How are they going to scale up their impact?
3. WHAT ARE THEIR BIGGEST LEARNINGS?
What can they share to prevent other businesses making the same mistakes?
