Pukka Herbs - 2021 impact report review
This week I'm putting Pukka Herbs's impact report in the spotlight.
👍🏻 3 things I like...
1. THEY COME ACROSS AS AUTHENTIC & GENUINE
I believe they really care about being ethical and responsible for the full impact of their business.
2. THEY RECOGNISE THE CHALLENGES
For example, how to decouple emissions from business growth. And how to become net zero when you have a complex global supply chain that involves food. They admit that they don’t have all the answers.
3. DETAILED DATA WHICH IS EASY TO UNDERSTAND
They share a lot of detail and a lot of data (which I think helps with the credibility). And they do this in a really palatable way.
❓3 questions it raises
1. WHAT HAVE THEY LEARNT?
They’re so much more advanced on their responsible business journey than most businesses. It would be great if they could share their learnings to help others make the transition more quickly.
2. WHAT ARE THEIR PLANS FOR THE COMING YEAR?
Publicly committing to specific plans and objectives upfront, can help build your credibility as a business, especially when you then hold yourself accountable to them in next year’s impact report. It can also help other businesses to learn from you.
3. ARE THEIR SOME PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR CREATIVE BEHAVIOUR CHANGE SOLUTIONS?
36% of their emissions come from people boiling kettles to make tea, which is a great example of the challenges of scope 3 emissions (those outside your control). They share some things they’re doing and recognising this is a really challenging area.
I was left wondering whether there are some more creative ways of prompting behaviour change. Maybe the opportunity for collaboration with an organisation like Hubbub?
I’m going to take the liberty of adding a fourth thing I like! This is a genuinely beautiful report. I enjoyed reading it and the gorgeous, completely on-brand design made me feel relaxed while doing so, which is quite a feat for an impact report! I highly recommend you read it, especially if you’re tasked with creating an impact report for your business.
